IntoUniversity East Ham

Our first centre in Newham opened its doors to local young people in October 2013.

Sharon Gyimah - Centre Leader

Sharon Gyimah joined us in January 2017. Sharon has a degree in Politics and Sociology from Aston University. She previously worked for MyBnk and Future First.

Aled Darlington

Aled Darlington joined us in August 2016 and has a degree in Psychology from the University of Kent. He has previously worked as a primary school teacher in Thailand and has been a volunteer at IU North Kensington.

Kavita Desai

Kavita Desai joined us in August 2018. Kavita has a degree in French Studies with History from the University of London Institute in Paris and was an intern at IntoUniversity North Islington. She previously worked as a SEN Teaching Assistant. 

Amy Pike

Amy Pike joined us in January 2019. Amy studied English Literature at the University of Cambridge and has a Masters in Culture of the European Renaissance from the University of Warwick. She has previously taught English as a foreign language.

Monday

Secondary Academic Support  

3.45pm - 5.15pm 

Support from graduate staff and university-educated volunteers on schoolwork and exam revision.     


Tuesday and Wednesday 

Primary Academic Support  

3.30pm - 5pm 

Support from graduate staff and university-educated volunteers on schoolwork and a target approach to improving literacy and numeracy.  


Thursday   

Secondary Academic Support  

3.45pm - 5.15pm 

Support from graduate staff and university-educated volunteers on schoolwork and exam revision.    


Year 11-13 can phone or email to book an appointment for advice on UCAS applications, interview techniques, and gap year choices.
