IntoUniversity Newcastle East, our first centre in Newcastle, opened in October 2021 in partnership with Newcastle University and Northumbria University.

Laura Duncalfe - Centre Leader

Laura Duncalfe joined us in 2015. Laura has a degree in Modern and Medieval Languages from the University of Cambridge and a PGCE in Secondary Education. She previously worked as a teacher and as Centre Leader of our Birmingham North centre.

Jozy Scott

Jozy Scott joined us in August 2019 and previously worked on our DANCOP project. She has a degree in History with Politics from the University of Liverpool and previously worked as a Lead Mentor for Catch 22 - National Citizen Service.

Liam Raine

Liam Raine joined us in August 2021. Liam has a English Literature degree from Sheffield Hallam University. Previously Liam was an English for Academic Purposes Tutor at INTO Newcastle University and before this he was an English Teacher at Sheffield Language Centre.

Alice Holden

Alice Holden joined us in August 2021. Alice has a Politics degree from Newcastle University. Previously, she was a Student Recruitment and Engagement Officer at Gateshead College and a UK Student Recruitment Assistant at the University of Cumbria.

Courtney Hayes

Courtney Hayes joined us in August 2021. Courtney has a degree in Communication and Media from Bournemouth University. Previously, she worked as a teacher in China.

What is on at the centre?

Monday 

Secondary Academic Support

4:00pm - 5.30pm 

Support from graduate staff and university-educated volunteers on schoolwork and exam revision.     
 


Tuesday and Wednesday 

Primary Academic Support 

3:30pm - 5:00pm 

Support from graduate staff and university-educated volunteers on schoolwork and a target approach to improving literacy and numeracy.  
 


Thursday   

Secondary Academic Support

4:00pm - 5.30pm 

Support from graduate staff and university-educated volunteers on schoolwork and exam revision.
