IntoUniversity Hackney Downs

IntoUniversity Hackney Downs was our tenth centre, opening in our 10th anniversary year. The centre held its official launch in February 2013 and was opened by Richard Hardie from our supporter UBS.

Ashley Caswell

Ashley Caswell is our Team Leader at Hackney Downs. She has a degree in English Literature from the University of Sheffield, and a PGCE from Sheffield Hallam. Ashley previously worked as an English teacher, Cross Curricular Co-ordinator and Young Adult Mentor.

David Lewis

David Lewis joined us in January 2015. David has a degree in American Studies from the University of Leicester and a Masters in History from UCL. He has previously been a Teaching Assistant and a Mentor at our Hackney South centre.

Mala Vasudev

Mala Vasudev joined us in January 2016. Mala has a degree in Medical Microbiology from the University of Surrey and a PGCE from the Institute of Education. Mala previously worked as an SEN teacher in Turkey and as an English Teacher in Beijing.

Charlotte Stringfellow

Charlotte Stringfellow joined us in January 2016. Charlotte has a degree in Primary Education Studies from the University of Cumbria. She previously worked as a Youth Worker/Activity Leader with young people in Bolton.

Mat Haine

Mat Haine joined us in January 2017. Mat has a degree in Politics from the University of Surrey and previously worked as Assistant Programme Manager for the National Citizen Service.

Jenneh Edem-Hotah

Jenneh Edem-Hotah joined us in January 2017. Jenneh has a degree in Biomedical Science from the University of Manchester. She previously volunteered as an intern with IntoUniversity and also volunteered with International Citizen Service.

Monday 

Secondary Academic Support  

4pm - 5:30pm 

Support from graduate staff and university-educated volunteers on schoolwork and exam revision.     


Tuesday and Wednesday 

Primary Academic Support  

3.30pm - 5pm 

Support from graduate staff and university-educated volunteers on schoolwork and a target approach to improving literacy and numeracy.  


Thursday   

Secondary Academic Support  

4pm - 5:30pm 

Support from graduate staff and university-educated volunteers on schoolwork and exam revision.
