We are committed to promoting the wellbeing of all young people who come into contact with IntoUniversity.

We have a comprehensive Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy in order to protect children, young people and vulnerable adults with whom we work. This policy also provides the principles and practices which guide our approach to safeguarding and child protection.

Our Safeguarding Team

We have a designated Safeguarding Team leading on all aspects of safeguarding and child protection at IntoUniversity. They support our staff and volunteers with safeguarding issues and develop the charity's policies and procedures to make sure we are doing all we can to keep our students safe.

Kelly Wainhouse

Head of Safeguarding and Operations

Kelly Wainhouse joined us in January 2020. She previously was the Senior Programme Manager at the National Citizen Service, The Challenge and Buddy Scheme Project Manager at Richmond AID.

Eilis O'Donnell

Director of Programmes and Delivery

Eilis O'Donnell is our Director of Programmes and Delivery. Eilis has a degree in Psychology with Philosophy, a PGCE in Secondary Education and an MA from the Institute of Education. She previously worked as a teacher.

Sophie Houghton

Head of Programme Delivery and Operations

Sophie Houghton is our Head of Programme Delivery and Operations (North of England and East Midlands). Sophie has a degree in European Social and Political Studies with French from UCL and a PGCE from Sheffield Hallam. She also has a Masters of Education from the University of Manchester.

Elly Rundle

Head of Operations (Impact and Strategy)

Elly Rundle is our Head of Operations (Impact and Strategy). She has a degree in Modern Languages: German and Italian from the University of Oxford and a Masters in German and Italian Literature. Elly was previously Team Leader at our Haringey centre.

Lydia Salter

Head of Student Opportunities (maternity cover)

Lydia Salter joined us in August 2017. Lydia has a degree in History from the University of Bristol, with a Masters in International Relations from the University of Bath. Previously she worked in Widening Participation roles within the University of Bath and was Centre Leader at IntoUniversity Oxford South East and Regional Operations Manager of our West Midlands and Oxford centres.

Hollie Baines

Regional Operations Manager (East of England)

Hollie Baines joined us in August 2017. Hollie has a degree in Drama in the Community from Bishop Grosseteste University, as well as a PGCE from North Essex Teacher Training. She previously taught drama.

Hannah Purkiss

Chief Operating Officer

Hannah Purkiss is our Chief Operating Officer based at our Head Office and is currently on maternity leave. Hannah joined us as a graduate-trainee Education Worker in August 2010.

Rachel Carr

Chief Executive and Co-founder

Dr Rachel Carr is the Chief Executive and co-founder of IntoUniversity. Previously, she was a university lecturer and Head of an English Department. She has over 20 years’ experience working with children and young people.
