Since then, the centre has welcomed over 6,500 young people through its doors, providing a safe and inspiring space to learn, explore, and grow. From quiet afternoons spent completing homework with a mentor, to the excitement of a first university visit, the centre has been part of countless important moments in young people’s lives.
In the past 10 years, Brighton students have taken part in over 2,600 workshops and events, visited universities 183 times, and received more than 136,000 hours of support. Every hour represents a student finding confidence in their abilities, a young person discovering a new pathway, or a family feeling the reassurance that their child has a place to thrive.
Of those who have completed their school journey, 630 have progressed to university and for those choosing a different path, 29% have gone on to positive non-university destinations, such as apprenticeships and training opportunities. Each success is unique, but together they tell a powerful story of determination and possibility.
“It has been wonderful to celebrate an incredible 10 years of IntoUniversity Brighton with our young people, families, volunteers and staff. The speeches and performances by our students and staff reflected the magic of the centre as a space that fosters community and encourages young people to flourish. We have enjoyed celebrating and reflecting on all of the amazing memories whether that be through residential trips, mentoring or Academic Support, there are so many stories for all of us to cherish. Here’s to the next 10 years!” Rosie Doyle, Regional Operations Manager for South London and South Coast, IntoUniversity
The anniversary is not just a moment to reflect on what has been achieved, but also a chance to look forward. The past 10 years have shown what is possible when young people are given the right support and encouragement. As we celebrate this milestone, we also renew our commitment to serving even more young people in the years to come, helping them to unlock their potential and shape their futures.
