Making a tangible difference against a backdrop of persistent educational inequalities

Our latest Impact Report, launched today, brings together the voices of young people we support with the evidence behind our work.

Robust impact reporting has long been something we place a great deal of emphasis on at IntoUniversity: it enables us to track and understand what is working well, and at scale, as well as highlighting where more work is needed.

This year marks a specifically significant impact report for us, as it covers the period in which we welcomed our 250,000th student. The data in this report helps us to dive deeper into what our work has meant for these students, and the tangible change our work has created. At the same time, the report captures some of the incredible personal stories of some of the young people behind that number.

Key findings

  • Clear impact on academic attainment, with independent evaluation showing that regular attendance at our Academic Support programme leads to higher school grades.
  • Stronger post-school destinations, with 60% of our school leavers progressing to Higher Education in 2025, against a backdrop where access to Higher Education remains deeply unequal.
  • Positive outcomes beyond access to university, including lower drop-out rates at university and strong financial returns for the great majority of our graduates, alongside wider personal and societal benefits.
  • A commitment to learning and improvement, through research such as our OfS-funded metacognition project and our Adult and Family Learning pilot in Scotland, helping us strengthen our support for young people and their families.
